Support for our relatives in Gaza, Palestine.
Donation protected
I am married to a Palestinian man. We live in the UK with 2 beautiful boys. Many of his family remain in Palestine in the middle of the conflict. We read daily of their plight and can’t help but question why our government is not doing more to help this massacre of our fellow human beings. We took Ukrainians into our homes, we welcome refugees, why is the UK ignoring what is happening to Palestinians?
My husband has been in touch with some family and friends who remain in Gaza and the first thing they say to us is “it’s good to hear from you, how are you?”. They ask us how WE are. These people are wonderful humans who can sit in makeshift shelters, with hungry children, living in constant fear of who they will loose next or what will happen next, and they ask how WE are. I’ve given this some thought and ‘how we are’ is guilty. So terribly guilty that we have safety and shelter, so awfully guilty that we eat every day, so unbelievably grateful that we put our children to bed in a warm comfortable bed every night. I write to raise awareness of this situation because I can’t stand the guilt of reading on the news what is happening to our family and doing nothing about it.
We have found a way to safely get some money directly to them. The conflict continues and food shortages are getting worse. A 25kg bag of flour costs more than £300. Blockades mean foreign aid is not getting through to them. They are quite literally starving to death. I read recently of a mother in Gaza who had prematurely given birth to a baby who weighed just 4lbs. They searched high and low to find a milk the baby could tolerate. When she leaves hospital she will leave with 4 days worth of milk. What will happen after that?!
The prices of their limited food resources are quite unbearable to imagine, so little of it means the prices have been driven up astronomically. I therefore write to see if you would like to contribute a small amount to this worthy cause. We so deeply appreciate your kindness and compassion. It is a comfort to me to know it is going directly to families in Gaza. We have tried the bank transfer and they have been in touch to thank us so we know it has worked. I have previously reached out to you and asked if you would like to donate. Many of you did and the impact this had was quite overwhelming. I am therefore reaching out again to see if you have the time to share this link with other people you know.
Let’s spread the word of what is happening and let the Palestinian people know that we can see them and we care enough to try to help them. This is nothing more than we would wish if we were in this situation ourselves.
All proceeds will go to our family member in Gaza, Abd Elwahhab Biltaji, her family and friends, to help afford the increasingly scarce and expensive food available there.
