Oscar Rivera’s Road to Recovery Fund

In the early hours of July 12, 2019, Oscar got into a terrible car accident on his way to Las Vegas with friends. His tire blew out and while unable to gain control of the vehicle, he slammed on the brakes, the car caught air and flipped, then rolled over into the embankment.

He doesn’t have any broken bones or internal injuries. Unfortunately, his brain took the brunt of the impact and he’s been diagnosed with Diffuse Axonal Injury, a brain injury caused by the force of the car accident. He’s not opening his eyes or responding purposefully at the moment. He’s on life support AKA he has a tube in that’s helping him breathe while he recovers and a tube to give him nutrition straight to his stomach.

We don’t know the extent of the brain damage as it is still too early to tell. We will know more as the dust settles from the accident and his brain starts to heal. What we do know is that he is stable thankfully and surrounded by loved ones.

The Rivera family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support that we have received. We know that Oscar has so many friends and family that love him. We ask that you keep him and our family in your daily prayers.

Also, please contact us before coming to see him as we are trying to limit visitors and stimulation to allow his brain and body to heal.
