It's Omega School's 50th year, and Oscar Mireles' 65th birthday!
Oscar Mireles has been the Director of Omega for 25 years. To celebrate his birthday, his friends have started this GoFundMe to raise funds to repair and update Omega's building with a new roof; updated heating, air conditioning, and lighting; and installation of energy efficient windows. During the pandemic, Omega has switched to serving students remotely via on-line, telephone, and snail-mail communication. It would be great to get the building updated in time for the next cohort of students on site!

Omega School Provides Opportunities For People To Enhance Their Lives Through Adult Basic Education.
Omega School works one on one with people who left high school before getting their degree, or who are at risk of not graduating. Known as the "real world" option, Omega has provided a way for literally thousands of people to earn their high school diplomas by working one to one, centering the students' needs and circumstances. Whether a student is juggling multiple work schedules, or in need of a job; whether child care is an issue, or there are extended family obligations to meet; whether a student needs help finding transportation, facing housing insecurity, or currently living in their car; experiencing social isolation or prior incarceration -- Omega has dealt with the issue before.
