Orwell Challenge: Preschool Fundraising Walk!

Nacton and Bucklesham Under Fives is a not-for-profit preschool at the heart of our village community. Set in beautiful countryside just south of Ipswich, it offers a warm, nurturing start for local children and has done so for generations.

But like many early years settings, it’s been hit hard by COVID, rising costs, and a lack of government funding. Thanks to a fantastic new manager, an amazing staff team, and supportive families, the preschool is bouncing back—but we urgently need funds to keep improving.

On Sunday 29th June 2025, a group of parents, volunteers, and children are taking on the Orwell Challenge—a fundraising walk along the River Orwell—to raise money for our outdoor play area and new learning resources. The garden is worn out from years of use and desperately needs returfing or resurfacing to make it safe and fun again.

This is a big challenge, especially for little legs—but it’s all to give our children the best possible start.
