Support Baby Ori's Heart Journey

Hi, I'm Kate Morrell and my family is in fulltime ministry to the community here in North Texas. I am the director of Children's Ministries at Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church and Vance is a Recreational Therapist who helps people with complex brain trauma. We have a three year old daughter, Lorelei, who's "only-child-card," is expiring this July. We are beyond excited to be expecting a beautiful son, who we have named Orion Theodore, aka, "Ori."

Our son, Ori, was diagnosed in utero, a month ago with Pulmonary Atresia with Intact Ventricle Septum. This means that his pulmonary valve is completely closed and that without life-saving intervention, he would not survive. It's a very rare condition, that my own brother had, and passed away from, 5 years ago at the age of 20. So, we are moving cautiously and taking every precaution possible.

We interviewed, spoke with, and got second and third opinions from the premiere fetal cardiologists in the U.S. and his diagnosis + birth plan + procedure are agreed to be the best chance for our son's life. He may have to have several heart catheterizations in early childhood and will eventually have to have a valve replacement heart surgery.

So, we are taking things one step at a time, in faith, with reliance that God will provide for him and us. I recently lost my insurance and my family cannot afford the costs we have begun to accumulate.

Any help you're able to give will offset medical costs of appointments, procedures, hospital stays, meals, and therapies that Ori will immediately need to have the best quality of life possible. It will also help cover the fact that Vance only has two weeks of paid leave, but will need more time off to be in support of me postpartum and Ori as he goes through surgery and beyond.
