Opportunity to assist Jack & Theresa Hoey
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Brenda and I'm fundraising to assist Jack & Theresa Hoey with living expenses in response to a tragic event in their lives.
At the end of September 2020, Jack had a stroke one morning at the Cloverbelt Farmer's Market in Oxdrift where he and Theresa have been longtime vendors. He was flown to Thunder Bay Health Sciences Centre where he spent 6 weeks before being transferred back to Dryden Regional Health Centre. Unfortunately, Jack did not recover to the point where he could return home and was admitted to long term care at Princess Court this past June.
Theresa spent 3 days every two weeks visiting Jack during his stay at the TBRHSC which incurred gas, hotel and meal expenses as well as time off work without pay. She is now solely responsible for her living expenses and, beginning during his hospital stay at the DRHC and for the foreseeable future, will also pay Jack's expenses over and above what his CPP covers by about $400/month. In addition, he takes a prescribed medication that is not covered by Ministry of Health and she is billed for that as well.
My goal is for Jack and Theresa to receive enough funding to pay off the debt incurred this past year and build up a contingency fund for ongoing expenses. She works tirelessly to make a living, clocking hours at work, canning and baking goods to sell at the markets while supporting her husband with regular visits and phone calls.
I have seen and experienced the generosity of the Dryden & area community when help is needed. Please show your care and concern by giving what you can. Any amount will make a difference. Many thanks.
