Every donation counts!!!
Operation LongThrust was founded by Barbara J. Brown in 1968. Their mission is to influence underprivileged youth to become positive contributors in their communities through personal and spiritual development. This week-long, life-changing summer camp program serves youth ages 6 to 16 from varies background, religions and communities.
Camp Moran is a beautiful camp located in the heart of Morgan State Park in Washington State. Each year with the help of our donors, they take approximately 115-125 children to summer camp. Many campers are from low-income families who could not afford to go to summer camp, if they had to pay the full cost for the week. They also take approximately 30 or more adult members and college students from our local community. These members volunteer their services for the week; taking off from their jobs and sacrificing their vacations to help this project.
Classes offered during the week include hiking, crafts, self-motivation, swimming and self-esteem building. They also provide drug and alcohol awareness sessions, they will help the children to be aware of the negative effects of gang associations, and they encourage the children to stay in school, connect spritually, and reach for higher education.
This summer camp program has enriched the lives over 5,600 young people over the past 48 years. They help children learn the basics of everyday living, provide them with three wholesome meals a day plus snacks, and provide a fun filled week at a beautiful location. Although, their time is limited to one week, lifelong benefits are felt by the children and to the adult volunteers.
