HELP Southside of Chicago Wrestling Club

My name is Telly J. Lucio and I'm a PE Teacher/Wrestling Coach. I have been coaching wrestling to the youth of Chicago for 9 years experience coaching high school. I have coached 4 varsity state qualifiers including 1 girl, 4 city champions, two 3rd place winners, 5th place as a team in city championships, and 10th place as a team in city championship for the City of Chicago.

I work on the South Side of Chicago where many public school students do not have exposure to the sport. It is difficult for the student athletes, that DO join the sport, to attend camps and tournaments because of the cost. During the off season my high school wrestlers participate as wrestlers of my club Onslaught Wrestling. I'm looking to raise money for my wrestling club to pay for my wrestlers’ camps, tournaments, uniforms, and travel.

Girls wrestling is the fastest growing sport in the United States right now! I have one girl wrestler and a few more set to join when the school year starts. My girl wrestlers name is Diana. She’s currently going into her junior year of high school. I taught her PE in 6th grade and started coaching her at the end of her 7th grade year. Wrestling isn’t just a sport she does it’s her lifestyle now. She is most happy when she’s around the sport of wrestling. Through her hard work and dedication she wrestled her way into the first ever Illinois State High School Association (IHSA) girls wrestling tournament as a sophomore!

Her younger brother also wrestles and has quickly become a prominent wrestler in the state. As a freshman Daniel qualified for JV state, one of the highest honors a freshman can attain! Daniel loves wrestling and enjoys the competition and ability to better himself day in and day out. With the money raised I want to send these siblings along with the other wrestlers on the team to camps and tournaments the rest of our off season.

I am doing everything I can with my skills and experience to fill this need in my city. I am hoping to aquire the funds as soon as possible. The wrestlers I have at my school are great kids with potential to do great things. They deserve the best and I have, and will continue to always go for the moon for these kids.
