My mother's name was Soha Salah Mohamed Ahmed. She had colon cancer; she was first diagnosed in 2019. After a lot of consultations, the doctors here in Egypt agreed to do surgery to remove the tumor. She was still in stage 1 cancer, and the surgery wasn't very successful as they left blood stains, which affected her worse as the stains contained tumor cells that regenerated. However, her body was stable at that time, and she had no pain, but she had tubes connected to her body to stabilize her condition. She began to take more chemotherapy sessions and also a lot of radiation.
In 2022, her body began to react worse than before to the cancer, and she went on a weekly basis and sometimes daily basis to the hospital for radiation and chemotherapy sessions and also blood tests. In 2023, her condition became worse than ever, and she reached stage 4 cancer. We found that staying in Egypt would no longer benefit her, so she traveled to New Jersey, USA, to continue the medical checkups and medications there. While there, she had a lot of bleeding and a lot of pain regarding her body, and she was locked in the hospital. From this moment, we began to realize that our prayers were the strongest thing to do and believed that God wouldn't do something that wouldn't be better for her. Some days she would go home, and then her condition would return to normal, then she would stay at the hospital until one day the doctors came last month in January and told her that there was nothing more they could do. They gave her the option to either stay in the USA or stay with her children and family in Egypt. She decided to come back and stay here with us for the rest of her life.
She landed on the 2nd of February here in Egypt and stayed with us for the first 4 days. She made a full blood test at home, and the results were very good; it was 8.5, and we thought it was a miracle until she had another bleeding. We instantly called an ambulance and went to a nearby hospital to give her blood. At first, her hemoglobin was 6, and this was good. However, unfortunately, she had 3 more bleedings after 1 hour in the hospital, and her hemoglobin dropped to 4, and there weren't any more blood bags. So, we called another ambulance to go to another big hospital, and she stayed there for 2 days until she passed away on the 8th of February 2025 at 12:30 pm. The reason was that she lost a lot of blood due to bleeding and also a severe drop in blood circulation. They gave her blood and plasma and made an electric refreshment to her heart; however, nothing worked out, and they called the hour of death at 12:30 pm on 02/08/2025.
Throughout the entire period of 6 years, she didn't ask for help, she held onto life till the last moment, she didn't even make us notice that she was in pain. She was the strongest, most beautiful, and smartest woman I have ever known. She helped everyone she knew and didn't talk bad behind anyone's back. Everyone around her felt at home and loved her and depended on her for everything, friends, family, or even strangers. I was grateful and happy to have an incredible, smart, beautiful, faithful, and strong mother, closest friend, and sister in my entire life. I won't ever forget anything she did for me, and she will always be in my heart forever.
We are fundraising to build her an ongoing charity with her name to be remembered for eternity and also to honor her name Soha Salah Mohamed Ahmed, also to build it in a place that needs help and support.
