"A Delicate Debacle,"One Woman Show

Hi, My name is Maureen Carole Young. I am a highly capable totally blind woman who has been blessed with a mother who taught me to be fearless. I moved to New York City on my own, knowing no one and having nothing but a dream to sing classical music and continue voicing commercials and children's characters as I had done as a child. Some of those dreams worked out, some did not. I met my first boy friend ever as I approached middle age. I moved to California with him. Unexpectedly, I came to live through emotional and verbal abuse which tested my fearlessness. It took every cent I had and every ounce of ingenuity to bring me from the west coast back to my theatrical home of New York City. My journey and my return is a story that must be told to help others who may be in similar situations.

I have written and reenacted an 80 minute solo show that I would like to bring to the public. I am particularly interested in reaching emotionally and verbally abused women who have scars on the inside but nothing to substantiate their pain on the outside. These women need to see and hear that they are not alone. Also, my return to New York will strengthen anyone's desire to "make it here."

The money will be used to actively prepare and accurately present my story with dignity.
