NASA Rover Moonbuggy "Odyssey" 2018

Donation protected
This year the University of Colorado has selected 13 students to participate in its 2 semester Group Senior Design Capstone Project. This year’s team, “Odyssey,” is charged with designing and manufacturing a NASA Moonbuggy powered solely by man.
Last year, with the enthusiastic support of sponsors such as you, the CU team won both the Neil Armstrong Award for Best Design and the Rookie Team of the Year Award. Now, as the legacy team, it is our hope to return and capture the Neil Armstrong trophy again. The team will compete in April 2018 at Rocket City, in Huntsville, Alabama. While some university support is given, the students have the responsibility to oversee budgeting and fundraising for the project.
To effectively manufacture a quality rover in a timely manner, the team is currently projecting the cost to be approximately $25,000.00. We are reaching out to you to see if your company has an interest in providing either monetary or material support to our team. Any monetary amount donated will be a tremendous help in the success of the project. In addition, building materials such as carbon fiber stringers, carbon fiber composite materials, round and/or square aluminum stock, shock, gears, aluminum nuts and bolts are needed.

The many benefits of sponsoring university projects include:
·        Active participation and interaction with current engineering students in your community
·        Community influence into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) teaching ideas and designs
·        Contribution to the development of future engineers
·        Your contribution to this project is tax deductible (501-(c)(3))

This year’s Odyssey Rover will provide the following features:
·        International competition held at NASA’s Rocket City facility in Huntsville, Alabama
·        Televised live coverage on NASA TV
·        Streamed viewing of the competition across US and international internet
·        Brand exposure on our team and CU Denver website, social media, reports and publications.

On behalf of the Mechanical Engineering Senior Design team Odyssey, we thank you for your time and consideration of support. We believe strongly that working together on this project will be mutually beneficial for our students here at CU and a positive experience and exposure for your business.
