Oax Sport is helping Juana Cruz go to the Ultra Trail Mont Blanc Mexico in Puerto Vallarta. She won her entry by winning the 50k ultra trail race ‘Desierto de Los Leones’ in Mexico City. We are fundraising to cover her costs, plus her accompanying team to travel from Oaxaca to Puerto Vallarta, where Juana will compete in the 50k ultra trail of Ultra Trail Mont Blanc Mexico (UTMB®). She aims to qualify for the final race in France, the UTMB® World Series Finals in Orsières, France.
Juana Cruz Garcia is an ultra trail athlete from the indigenous town of San Juan Quiahije, Juquila District, Costa Region, Oaxaca, Mexico.

Event Details: Puerto Vallarta, located on Mexico’s Pacific coast, will host a brand-new event from 28 to 30 October, 2022. A city defined by the natural charm of its beaches surrounded by the remarkable Sierra Madre mountains, Puerto Vallarta México by UTMB® will highlight the best the region offers. Taking runners on a journey from the deep pine mountain forests through impressive jungle and ancient colonial towns, while following endless rivers to the beautiful bay of Puerto Vallarta, this new event will have an authentic Mexican spirit across 20km, 55km, 100km, and 100-mile distances.
Funds will pay for airplane tickets, bus transportation, and accommodation. The team consists of 1 athlete and 2 staff. Oax Sport will spend all money raised to support the athlete in this competition. If anything is left, they will spend it on another competition. Donations are sent directly to the charity, and they manage the spending. No athlete will receive cash payments.
About the Sports Non-Profit Organization: Oax Sport Inc is a 501(c)(3) Public Charity based in Austin, Texas. Our mission is to support athletes from small communities of Oaxaca, Mexico, focusing on indigenous communities. We offer sports sponsorship and scholarship. We rely on public support and financing. We saw the need to support athletes of small communities, as corporations and academic institutions rarely participate in much of Mexico’s rural towns. We believe in the Oaxacan athletes.
