Manahuu Relatives —
Two years ago, with the support of our local and global community, we made history here in Payahuunadü— the “place of flowing water.” Together, we returned a rare 5-acre privately owned oasis called Three Creeks back to our Tribal communities.
This second phase of Three Creeks is part of a larger vision led by Owens Valley Indian Water Commission (OVIWC) to grow healthy homelands and communities throughout Payahuunadü.
Three Creeks is located on ancestral homelands, always known as Panatü (by the water), and is a center for healing, cultural remembrance, water protection, and much more. Three Creeks marked a significant victory for OVIWC after more than 30 years of working to return land and water to their communities, and has become a place to grow healthy homelands. Our mission is simple: to uplift, honor, and heal.
Now, in 2025, we are entering another historical moment with a neighboring 5-acre return — this time with water rights. This is the first time water rights will be returned to Indigenous care from private landowners in Payahuunadü.
This opportunity will deepen the work already happening at Three Creeks and secure land and water for Tribal communities for generations to come.
Community support remains at the heart of our work. Every gift matters, and our community’s involvement is essential to the life of Three Creeks. Your continued support has made everything possible so far, and we are grateful to be entering this next chapter with you.
Our 2026 goal is to raise $1.25 million to purchase the land with water rights by Summer Solstice (June 21st), and the full $2.5 million by Winter Equinox (Dec 20th) to cover repairs, food sovereignty setup, and the first year of stewardship.
Every contribution helps us move toward long-term sustainability and self-determination for our communities.
Our preferred method of donation is by check or direct deposit. Please write a check if you are giving over $500 and send your contribution to:
