The kids in the Old North End are dreaming and we need your help to make it happen!
ONE Arts started ten years ago as a labor of love in the Old North End! Every day after school, we would walk a small group of kiddos from Sustainability Academy and Integrated Arts over to our center, and spend the afternoon making art with them. Here we are ten years later, with a thriving after school art and camps program, led by artists! We embrace radical, joyful creativity, and we have a community of kiddos that are accepted, loved, and encouraged to be themselves while they explore, create, and play! Art making at the art center is about imagination and making unbelievable things possible, it's about learning and trying new things, and about listening to each child and meeting them where they are at in their creative journey. Some children bring their own ideas and we help them make it a possibility, some children are excited by sensory materials such as molding clay or touching paint, and some children want a complex project that takes weeks to work on, or a whole group project that they work on together. The art center is a place that believes in kids, and believes that encouraging kids to explore their creativity, to question the world around them, and see what is possible, has the power to change the world.
We are moving!!! We are building a state of the art creative space in the Old North End, right next to our early learning center at 294 N. Winooski. Our new space will be licensed, fully accessible, and unbelievably awesome!! There will be a 20 foot workbench with outlets, a utility sink, a projector wall, and a kitchenette for the free meals/snacks we will serve! We received a $50,000 grant from "There's Room for Me!" and the State of Vermont to build our dream space for kids! But we need your help to fill it with the finishing touches! We are raising money for the really cool exciting stuff! Your donation is funding a magnetic wall, a lego wall, an exhibition wall, a woodworking station, a cozy corner with a fort, and a paper making studio! We will be doing circuit work, making robots, cutting cardboard, making stop motion animation, and doing printmaking. The more we raise, the more art supplies we can buy and the more we can develop our space!
Thanks for helping us build a safe and inclusive place where we can all come together as a community to make art and support one another!
