NOWHERE CLOSE (TV COMEDY PILOT)

Well, Hello there!

My name is Fanni Compton and I’m an Actress, Voiceover Talent & Recording Artist from the UK.

For the last 2/3 years, I have been performing and creating Character & Improvised sketches online and I’ve been fortunate enough to have a fantastic following along with much support, however, the time has come to think BIGGER! 

Earlier this year, I was approached by a writer by the name of Grant Foxon who wanted to know if I would be interested in performing a few of his written comedic sketches. Of course, I obliged, and I soon came to realise that we shared a very similar love of Dark, slightly neurotic & ‘close to the bone’ humour. It was a match made in Comedy Heaven!!

I had always wanted to hone in on a couple of the characters I had created and one character in particular, ‘Tracee’ always held a special place in my heart. Tracee is a 30 year old Northern woman who believes she is destined for ‘bigger things’ and is always trying to find a way to escape the estate on which she lives.  



She is bold, feisty and often vulgar in her approach to life but this all masks a deep vulnerability and desire to be loved! She is funny, crass and more often than not, will say, out loud, the the thoughts and opinions, we, in polite society, dare not!

Grant Foxon and I have gotten our heads together and have written what we believe to be a ‘fantastic script’. Infact we have received some brilliant feedback from it already .......



We are VERY proud of what we have achieved and now we want to share it with the world. 



NOWHERE CLOSE is not only the title of this Comedy Pilot but is also, aptly, the name of the street on which Tracee Tanner resides. Nowhere Close is part of a larger, poverty stricken estate in Manchester and Tracee is desperate to achieve the stardom that her now deceased mother, said she always could. She just needs to find a way to do that. ....
Spurred on by her love of Jane McDonald (a cruise ship singer), Jeremy Kyle AND an unholy amount of cigarettes & profanities, we see Tracee battle the odds to survive such a seemingly bleak & dismal existence. Will she ever escape and “make it” out there or will she always find herself ‘Nowhere Close’?


This is where you guys come in!!!!!

As I’m sure many of you are aware, in order for this Comedy Pilot to get off the ground, we need finances. There is Location to pay for, Food, costumes etc and I’ll admit, having never done anything like this before, I underestimated how much it cost to put a production like this together. Now, I could easily back out or find a reason NOT to continue..... but I have such faith and belief in this Sitcom that it would be criminal NOT to pursue this and so I’ve set up this Gofundme page in the hope that together we can all dig deep and if enough people can donate/contribute just the smallest amount, then we can easily reach this £2000 target. 
Due to the nature of many of the costumes (eg: Latex) we have had to cut back on these as they are proving to be VERY costly  and for that reason I’ve been able to take our initial £5000 target down to a very reasonable £2000 and hopefully making it very achievable.  


Now, you may well recognise these two faces, and, if you don’t, then let me introduce you to two of our awesome cast members!

Mickey Jones (on the left) is a renowned TV Director who originally made his name as an Actor in Brookside. He then went on to star in Family Affairs and is now working as one of the UK’s leading soap directors. He will be taking on the hilarious role of ‘Father Colin’ in this Pilot and I’m absolutely honoured to have such a funny, experienced, kind and established man on board. 

Kelli Hollis (on the right) is best known for her long-standing roles on ‘Shameless’ and ‘Emmerdale’. She is feisty, funny and with an amazing on screen presence she brings a real earthiness to every role she plays. Kelli will be taking on the role of ‘Michelle’ in this Pilot & I’m so excited to work alongside this superstar Actress!

I, myself, will be playing the lead role of Tracee Tanner......


And playing my long suffering and ever so slightly too submissive best friend will be the brilliant and quirky Actress, Laura Rosana.......


We have some excellent supporting Actors and many committed Extras all willing to give their time and energy to this project and I couldn’t feel more humbled and thankful. 

I have been told SO many times that I should have my own show and now I’m one step closer to making this a reality. With your help THIS CAN REALLY HAPPEN! 

Each and every one of you who has followed my journey, has supported me and helped me along the way... has helped bring me to this point today and I promise to keep going.  I’ve had my fair share of abuse and haters over time but that’s to be expected when you put yourself ‘out there’ consistently and I want to do this to not only prove it to myself BUT also to prove to every other creative, Actor, Performer out there... that if you have a dream then you simply MUST pursue it! And more importantly, that if you do....... you may just get EXACTLY what you wanted!
