AMONG THE TROGS (A Confession, by Mr Pantihose)

He’s psychotic as hell and he’s not going to take it anymore!

An aging artist calling himself ‘Mr Pantihose’ starts ‘erasing’ those he believes are advancing Western civilization’s rapid decline through a virulent brand of conformity masquerading as individualism. He calls them trogs.

Randomly choosing his victims, Mr Pantihose ups the ante following early success. The police come to regard the pattern of murders as the work of a serial killer. An excitable media take up the cause. Meanwhile our psycho, haunted—perhaps possessed—by the ghosts of his victims, develops trog-like traits. Dream, fantasy and reality become blurred.

Slowly crushed by the banality of materialistic existence, and becoming increasingly unhinged, Mr P sets his sights on a new target: the government. He plans a ‘statement’ of Grand Guignol proportions, but Fate—“which tramples men like an old mule”—has something else in store...

This brutal satire identifies various sacred cows in today’s cultural landscape and slaughters them with bloodthirsty relish. Among The Trogs (A Confession, by Mr Pantihose) is an offbeat meta narrative destined to become a cult classic.

A Short Bio

Anthony Wright was born in Melbourne, Australia. He lived, married and worked in Mexico City (1992-2001), returned to Melbourne (2001-2008), returned to Mexico (2008-2019), before relocating Perth (Australia, 2019-). He is an ex-journalist & teacher. He has published one novel (Infernal Drums) and one story collection (Smoke Ghosts and Other Outré Tales). He is an exhibited artist (Australia, Mexico, USA) and designs his own book covers. Anthony invites financial support for his writing project Among The Trogs from sophisticated patrons of the arts.
