North Linn Lynx 10&Under Baseball
"A go fund me page for a travel baseball team?! Give me a break!" I know, I know but before you scroll by give me 2 minutes to explain. Who needs another braid bread, tin of choclate covered peanut clusters or bratwurst meat pack.
We are going about it “old school” and just asking for help and then teaching our kids how to personally thank someone rather than delivering a product. What you will get in return is a phone call and a hand written thank you note (which I feel is a lost art) from one of our players.
Here's our pitch(GET IT?!):
1. It's not the travel baseball you've had nightmares about. In years past teams from Walker, Troy Mills and Coggon have played in a town league with three other teams. Since the consolidation and new centralized elementary we feel it only make sense to try and have a "North Linn" team and stop beating up on each other as separate town teams. The boys will be playing in the Positive Sports Training 10 and under USSSA league out of Cedar Rapids with local neighboring towns Vinton, Center Point, Robins, Marion, etc.
2. The money will go toward league fees, bats, balls, umpires, pitching mounds, field maintenance and uniforms. Trust me, we are not going overboard on the uniforms. T-shirt, baseball pants and a hat, that's it. We dont need hollywood movie stars, WE NEED HUSTLERS!! And hustlers rip pants and get dirty.
Our Goal:
To have 4th and 5th graders from Walker, Troy Mills and Coggon play on the same baseball team in a competitive format that will prepare them to play as they get older. This is the year we need the most help with funding, we should be able to maintain years after by hosting a few tournaments etc.
You also probably asked yourself "Why is there a picture of the highschool team at the 2015 state tournament if this is for a 10 Uteam?" Honestly, I don't have a picture of the boys yet and its a cool picture of North Linn baseball in a very cool setting. Do I think my kids gonna play there someday? No, not right now. First we're working on him getting his own gatorade before the game, spitting sunflower seeds the right way and flying around making plays with his buddies.
