CLOSED: Give Noor’s Children a Future on Chuffed

Donation protected
I’m Meave, a U.S. citizen who’d sponsored this for my dear friend Noor Hassan and her children (now at bit.ly/support-noor!) Noor is good, kind, and generous; her original GoFundMe supported her entire extended family through months of war and cost them all the funds they had.

This fundraiser is closed; see above for the new one.

Noor’s Story
My name is Noor from Gaza City. I have a son named Abdul Rahman, a son named Mohammad, and my daughter is named Nada. The war did to us as it did to every family in Gaza; it destroyed us and destroyed our dreams and ambitions. Abdul Rahman was forced to leave his university education because of the war. Mohammed and Nada also left their schools, which were destroyed by the occupation.

I say all this to you because the war did not leave us anything. The war is over, but it did not end our suffering. We are still suffering from the difficulties of life, and we are struggling to survive.

Throughout the war, we have been moving from one place to another to preserve our lives and search for shelter, food, and drink. We have moved five times from one place to another. Life is very difficult for us. I cannot even reach my small house because it is close to the border areas that the occupation prohibits us from reaching, and it is no longer suitable for living.

I hope that your help will help me make a better life for my family. All that I think about now is the future of my children. If you can help and support us in starting a new life in Egypt, so that my children can live their lives like other children, please support us and stay with us. I will be grateful to you. This fundraiser will
  • Pay for two adults and two children to cross to Egypt. No one knows how much the passage will cost for civilians; the last time the Rafah Crossing was open, it cost $5,000 per person age 18 and over, and $2,500 for minors. Assuming these early 2024 prices remain the same, this would cost the family $15,000. I will update with any changes.
  • Pay rent on a temporary shelter in Gaza City until they are able to purchase passage to Egypt. Right now this costs $100 per month, but it could change at any time; if it does, I will update.
  • Pay for food, water, and other basic necessities until they are able to purchase passage to Egypt. Abdul Rahman has already been hospitalized once with severe malnutrition including dangerously high sodium levels from eating mainly canned food, so they must be able to purchase fresh produce and clean water. Prices have varied wildly since the ceasefire, and everything is less available in the ruins of North Gaza.
  • Anything left after the family has immigrated to Egypt will go toward renting an apartment and supporting themselves until Noor finds a stable income. Other immediate expenses will be Abdul Rahman finishing his university degree and enrolling Nada and Mohammad in school and obtaining the necessary supplies.

Thank you so much for helping my dear friends restart their lives after 16 months of war. We pray that the ceasefire holds and that the Rafah Crossing opens for all civilians soon, so that once Noor is able to buy passage, they can get to Egypt and live in peace.
