eXXpedition is undertaking a historic mission from October 2019 through 2021: An all-female sailing crew will be traveling over 38,000 nautical miles around the world testing the levels of plastics and toxins in our oceans. Our mission is to collect invaluable scientific samples and data, whilst working to contribute solutions for cleansing our waters of plastic waste.
I am honored to be aboard eXXpedition's Discovery vessel during the first of thirty voyages to begin the research mission. We will be sailing from Plymouth, England to the Azores in October 2019 and I will be tasked with filming and editing content to provide scientists, media outlets, and students with visual evidence of our findings.
This honor and this mission comes at a cost. Each crew member is responsible for raising her own funding for each voyage. The funding raised helps provision our crew with travel necessities, safety gear, scientific equipment, food rations, flights, and important supplies.
Any donation, big or small, will go a long way towards helping me document the micro-plastic crisis that our world's oceans are facing.
