I don’t want to live in a wheelchair! Urgent surgery needed

Hi, my name is Karl and I am fundraising for myself for a much needed back surgery. The last two years have been a bit of a hell on earth for my health. I was injured and badly damaged my back and have not been able to work. The last 6 months it has been even more damaged to the point that I am now partially disabled. I met with a neurosurgeon who wants to perform spinal surgery, to hopefully eleaviate the excruciating pain daily but also hove me back my life.

I led a very active life and love my sports, but now some days I am bed bound and even a walk to the bathroom ends in tears.

I’m experiencing excruciating pain every day in not only my back, I’m alternating between shooting pain in my legs, and losing feeling. I’ve started to lose control of my bladder from the compression on my spine, and excruciating bowel issues which I’ve already been hospitalised for frequently for, which as 33 year old somewhat healthy and fit young man, is not just embarrassing but has becoming extremely depressing.

My mental health has rapidly declined and even with therapy and support from my partner and family, I’m worried for my future.

If I get on the public system I am looking at months to even be seen, and 2-3 years for surgery, which will mean the damage to my spine will worsen, which will mean more surgeries. I need surgery ASAP!

Ive exhausted all avenues to raise the money, my partner would sell her car to pay for this but we have too many medical appointments to attend to as well as 3 kids. The youngest is 3 and has autism and we need to be able to get to his appointments and therapy a few times a week so selling the car is unfortunately going to make life too difficult. I can’t work and my partner is a full time carer now to not just me, but our 3year old with special needs, as well as a full time Mumma to two teenagers. She’s looking for ways to make money to pay for this also so we are trying our hardest to fund this ourselves but every cent seems to be absorbed by rent, food, therapies, medication and life in general.

With not much else to do but sell my kidneys and spleen, I’ve created a go fund me and will start to share this journey on my social media, as its important you all know how much I appreciate the support and to show you how far I will go to get my health back.

I dont want to end up in a wheelchair. Ive already started to need walking aids. As as an athlete my whole life, this is devastating to my physical and mental health.

Its obviously going to cost a lot more than $10k but I know if i had even a small amount to put towards the surgery, I can somehow work out to find the rest. Looking forward to sharing with you my journey back to a healthy happy guy.
