I am fortunate to live near the beautiful Portmuck harbour on Islandmagee and swim there regularly. The area is under threat by a group which wants to create underwater gas caverns. Consequently many in the local community have created a group 'No Gas Caverns' to campaign against this development, expressing a serious concern about the long term environmental impact in the area. In order to continue its campaign the group is fundraising during the month of September in order to meet the cost of legal fees.
I will be swimming in Portmuck every day in September, come rain or shine, and would ask that you donate anything you can in order to campaign against the gas caverns project and keep Portmuck safe and beautiful.
