Dr Nkem's Legacy
Donation protected
Dr Nkem Ezeilo helps people.
As I am sure many of you are aware Dr Nkem passed away in the presence of her family on September 11th 2016.
I was honoured to be asked to give a tribute at her Funeral Reception yesterday (September 22nd) and it was apparent how very respected and loved this lady was.
In the words of a good friend, who put it much better than I;
"This lady. An absolute one in a million and an inspiration to millions.
A tireless and fearless campaigner. A mind like a fortress.
A will to help people perhaps even to her own detriment.
A woman on a mission.
A beautiful soul. An original thinker.
A fighter. A lifter of others.
So privileged and enriched from knowing you.
RIP Dr Nkem.
Have a small rest before you start working to improve heaven."
Now I am sure you are aware that I started this campaign in order to get Nkem to Mexico for treatment. Sadly she was never well enough to travel there.
The fund was created for this reason so the family and myself agreed that the fund would only be used for that reason as long as she lived.
We all know what a fighter Nkem was so we held hope to the last days that she would recover and be able to travel.
The money raised is still very much safe.
You may be aware that Nkem has an amazing son called David Thompson.
He is an amazing young man. He speaks with maturity and has a wise head on hius young shoulders (far wiser than I at 16, or I at 25 for that matter)
In talking with Nkem's brothers and Auntie Ginika and a few close friends we decided that we would like to use this fund as a fund for David.
We have not discussed exactly how this will happen yet but you have my word that that every penny will be used for him and his future which I feel sure will be very bright.
IMPORTANT :: If you donated previuously and would like your donation back as you do not resonate with this cause then I will refund your kind donation straight away, no questions asked (well as soon as I get access to do so as I am travelling this weekend)
I will start things off as I did at the start with a personal donation for David. We will keep you up to date with what is decided.
