JOIN THE FIGHT FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
In Nigeria’s Niger Delta, women are on the frontlines of a devastating health and environmental crisis. Decades of unregulated oil extraction have poisoned the water, soil, and air, causing widespread health issues like respiratory diseases, miscarriages, and chronic illnesses. Women, who rely on farming and trading to sustain their families, are now struggling to survive.
Despite these challenges, the women of the Niger Delta have shown extraordinary resilience, standing up to multinational corporations and demanding justice. Now, they need your help to continue this fight.
The Kebetkache Women Development & Resource Centre, in partnership with the Netherlands-based Hawkmoth, is taking action to provide urgent healthcare, raise awareness, and mobilize for justice. Together, we aim to raise $10,000 over the next two months to support these women and their communities.
Your donation can save lives, empower communities, and support a movement for global justice. Stand with the women of the Niger Delta and help build a cleaner, fairer future.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Women in the Niger Delta have their health compromised due to decades of oil and gas pollution in their communities. New research shows that of 80 women in Otuabagi whose blood was tested, 100% had levels of contamination more than 8,000 times higher than World Health Organization (WHO) permissible limits.
Otuabagi was the first place oil was drilled in the Niger Delta in 1956. There are thousands of communities across the Niger Delta facing the same consequence of destructive and irresponsible oil and gas activities. These women are facing health challenges such as respiratory diseases, menstrual cycle disruptions, miscarriages, infertility, breast cancer, eye-sight impairment, and other life threating conditions.
For these women—many of whom are mothers, farmers, and the backbone of their families—daily life has become a battle for survival. Polluted water sources, poisoned soil, and contaminated air have devastated their livelihoods and communities.
Yet, these women refuse to give up. They are standing against powerful multinational corporations, demanding accountability, environmental cleanup, and justice. With your support, we can:
- Provide immediate healthcare to those suffering from pollution-related illnesses.
- Educate communities to protect themselves and advocate for safer conditions.
- Strengthen legal action to hold polluters accountable and demand systemic change.
Your donation gives hope, justice, and resilience in a region that has endured far too much. Together, we can make a difference where it is needed most.
HOW YOUR DONATION HELPS
Every dollar goes directly to supporting life-changing efforts:
- $20: Covers a medical check-up for one woman.
- $50: Provides essential medication.
