Hello all and thank you for taking the time to read our story. My son Nicolas is a happy 14 year old, who loves video games, reading and playing the piano. He was born with Sickle cell disease and has been hospitalized more than 30 times at his short age. He has been at risk for stroke, has had pneumonia several times, urinary tract infections, pain crisis, and multiple blood transfusions as well as other complications from the disease.

Fortunately, we can and will be curing him. He will be undergoing chemotherapy in early June followed by a bone marrow transplantation this summer. His 3 year old brother Gabriel is his donor. For almost 4 years, we have been waiting for this to happen since Gabriel did not meet the weight requirement until now. 

When Nicolas comes back home after his BMT, he will be immuno-compromised and vastly more susceptible to illness and infections. This is why we have started this project.

With the money we are able to collect we will be removing all the carpet from our house and installing tile flooring which is more hygienic and easier to disinfect. We will also be buying an air purifier and repairing the walls to prevent mold which can cause respiratory infections.
