Let me introduce to you, Nick Souza. Born May 2, 1996.

Nick is a intelligent, energetic, larger than life young man. He has a sense of humor that is a bit over the top and is, what some might consider, a risk taker.

He loves the beach, surfing, lifting, fast cars, and hiking in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Did I mention he loves surfing?

On November 16th, Nick was diagnosed with a brain tumor. The tumor appears to have been growing for quite some time. It has caused considerable swelling of the brain. So much so, as to have shifted the brain midline and is pressing on the brain stem.

Tragically, after experiencing four separate episodes of unconsciousness followed by seizures, while still active duty Army, his requests for an MRI were all denied. That in itself is a separate issue.

Right now the imperative is to seek the medical care Nick will need to overcome this difficult diagnosis. We want Nick to heal and live a full, long life.

On Friday, November 23rd, Nick was admitted for an overnight stay in the hospital and underwent a brain biopsy. We will hopefully know the results at his next visit Friday, December 7th.

Depending on those results, a plan will be developed for his treatment and care. We anticipate removal and possibly chemotherapy.

Nick will be unable to work throughout this process and this is why I have begun this gofundme account. To cover his living expenses as well as any treatment that is not covered by insurance.
