Nickki's Kicking Butt Cause
Donation protected
In January of this year, Nickki was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. Doctors determined she has a genetic mutation called Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP), which caused her tumors. Fortunately, this cancer is treatable. Unfortunately, the treatment is a long road for Nickki. This year, she has already completed eight rounds of chemotherapy and five weeks of radiation. Nickki will have surgery this October to place an ileostomy. Her journey does not end there -- she is a candidate to have an internal pouch placed, this is called the Barnett Continent Intestinal Reservoir (BCIR). There are only two surgeons that perform this surgery in the United States, in California and Florida. This surgery will require Nickki to stay in the hospital for one month - out of state.
Beginning with her chemotherapy, Nickki needed to take a leave of absence from work in order to focus on her medical treatments. She's a fighter who is reluctant to ask for help. While she's already planning to increase her work load to make ends meet financially, she and her husband Paul are facing an uphill battle with medical bills incurred to date, yet alone those yet to come with upcoming surgeries. Your contribution will help Nickki cover her medical expenses.
There will also be a benefit in Nickki's honor on September, 21st at Madison Avenue Winery and Distillery from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. in Hudson, WI. There will be a silent auction and many other kid friendly activities (bounce house, games, music). Please consider attending this event or donating here if you are unable to attend.
