An unexpected and untimely departure, Nicholas R. Beddow passed away Saturday, March 10, 2018.
For us in the profession, our colleagues are family – commonly referred to as the wildland firefighting community. With that, Nick is a brother; he always will be. For 19 years, Nick “brought it” to the profession of wildland firefighting. From aviation to crewboss to engines to prescribed fire, the man has left a vacuum of knowledge and experience to fill. And yet this paled in comparison to the family man that was Nick – he was his best for his wife, Kate, and his two little girls, Lilly and Violet.
Nick’s favorite quote was that from Led Zeppelin’s, “Over the Hills and Far Away” –
Mellow is the man who knows what he’s been missing.
We miss you Nick, and we’re here for your family. Always.
