"For some people I have been a kind of Mercury: a fleeting glimpse of something superconscious and yet fundamentally human -- a thing that sits with you and feels like you but also has something divine about it. I have shared many moments with people where we felt we were the only ones in the world; where I know I touched them in a very deep way; in which they felt their humanity, their individuality, and the nuances of their pain seen in a way those things are not often seen. They have been older and younger, wiser and stronger, weaker and more ill but filled with compassion or justified rage. And they all saw something in me that they remember. Maybe not in the surface of their minds, but somewhere.
I know because I was always touched too. Some of the memories are blurry, but none are totally gone. Many of the best memories of my life are made of moments like that."

Knowing Nick was loving Nick. He was brilliant and deeply compassionate and he touched many souls along his path. Now he's left us and the best thing we can do to honor his memory is to celebrate his life. We will be gathering on November 19th in San Diego, the venue is tentatively set for the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Solana Beach. This location is also home to the "hippie preschool his parents sent him to" when he was young. There's no charge to attend, but a contribution would be greatly appreciated to help settle the cost to his family for Nick's passing. The "goal" for our fund is an arbitrary number I picked that reflects the very low end of the approximate costs for post life care. Please give whatever you feel comfortable giving and we hope to see you there.
