Nicholas Slater's "Never defeeted"

Donation protected

April 29, 2007 is a day that will be stuck in my head until my last breath is taken. It is the day my parents , 10 year old daughter ,family and friends almost had to watch me take that last breath. I was in a motor vehicle accident in Lousiana while down there trying to help rebuild after Hurricane Katrina . After a month long coma I awoke to see both feet taken, hole in my lower back, 4 "hole in my head ,hole in my throat and burns on many parts of my body. I learned  that we ran into a power pole and when I exited the car the power line hit me in my back with 10,000 volts . To make matters worse I had ecoli in my lungs . Doctors inform my family all the way back home in Muskegon Michigan that they should probably come say their good bye's. So they come down and for a week and then went home with everyone except my mother who stayed EVERY SINGLE NIGHT for a month sleeping on the floor waiting for me to wake up to no avail. She has to make her way back home or lose her job after using all sick days and vacation so I figured I'd wait to wake up from my coma 3 days after she leaves just to piss her off : ) I feel I've been given a second chance at life and give it everything I have and I feel I owe it to my great family and friends to make the most out of it. Without ALL of there love, prayers and support I would not be here. That's where this comes into play. Sports has always been my passion and I live for anything that involves competing . I also come from a hard working family that works for everything they have so it's my duty to hold my own as well. At one point in time I was playing softball, baseball, golf, and working at the same time but that has taken its toll on my body and no longer can do both due to inferior medical equipment that Medicare provides. I was forced to make a choice of either enjoy my new chance at life while spunging off the state or work . I chose work so I was not a burden to the states resourses  or friends and family. Also to set a good example for my daughter and to make my parents proud of me . Although I've cut my fun time down to mostly golf I still have multiple issues involving inferior gear . My goal is to raise enough money, which was suggested by my leg guy as a starting point , to try and get quality gear and improve  my quality of life to where it should be. It can be very depressing at times working and nothing but pain and injuries to show for it. So that is my story in a nutshell. Hopefully you have seen my story on WZZM on July 29th and that will give you an inside look at all of it. Thank you very much for your support and remember positive comments and shares are accepted as donations too. They really do help.
