Newland House football fundraiser for HEROES

BACKGROUND:

The Newland House girls and boys want to make a difference by helping the NHS as it faces the biggest challenge in its history amid the Covid-19 pandemic. They are raising money for HEROES, a charity supporting NHS staff working on the frontline. On Sunday 10th May, each Newland footballer will spend half an hour doing keepies uppies at home – that’s 8 hours of football with the year 8s alone!

THE CHARITY:

The Newland footballers are raising money for HEROES: Help Them Help Us, a charity set up by NHS workers for NHS workers. HEROES is focused on supporting the overall welfare and wellbeing of those fighting to keep the rest of us healthy and safe during the pandemic and beyond. Funds raised for the charity will cover the physical, mental and day-to-day needs of all NHS heroes – from doctors and nurses, to cleaners and porters.

HEROES focuses on the following areas:

·       Personal protective equipment (PPE)

·       Counselling - recognising the extraordinary strain that NHS staff are under

·       Accommodation for NHS workers - to keep other family members safe

·       Transport - enabling free or discounted transport for NHS workers

·       Safe childcare options for NHS workers

·       Educational resources for clinicians and the public

THE CHALLENGE:

The challenge will take place throughout the day on Sunday 10th May. Each Newlander will individually spend a minimum of 30 minutes doing keepie uppies at home – and hopefully no smashed windows! We will also put together a team film on this webpage to show the kids in action - and EVIDENCE they have completed the challenge!

GOAL!

The Newland House footballers are trying to raise £2,000 to help HEROES and make a difference amid this devastating crisis. Everyone has a part to play no matter how small. Please give what you can; whether it’s a fiver or 50 quid, everything is helpful and will make a difference. The more that the team can raise for HEROES, the more the charity can help NHS staff working at the frontline.

We are massively grateful for your all support, GO NEWLAND FOOTBALLERS!!!
