We are commissioning a new piano quartet by Brookfield composer Erik Nielsen this year.
Erik is well-known to Vermont audiences as a prolific composer of instrumental, choral, and operatic music. Each of us in the Northern Third Piano Quartet have performed Erik’s works, including in Fleeting Animal and various solo pieces. Since Erik knows our playing very well, he has already parts of the new piano quartet with our playing styles and spirits in mind!
The Northern Third Piano Quartet will premiere Erik's new work in the Fall of 2018 in Northfield, Randolph, and St. Albans.
WHO ARE WE?
We are the Northern Third Piano Quartet .
Or you can call us N3 for short! We do!
We have been playing together as a group since 2013. We have played all over Vermont including at Brandon Music, Spruce Peak Performing Arts, Barre Opera House and Norwich University. Our repertoire includes music of the duo, trio and piano quartet repertoire, ranging from Beethoven and Mozart to Shostakovich and Martinu. Here's a video clip of us playing Schumann!
A major goal of our group is to expand the piano quartet repertoire with new music by Vermont composers. We feel strongly that audiences should have more opportunity to hear works of our state composers.

$2,000.00 for rehearsal and performance fees,
$800.00 for the rental of Chandler Music Hall, and $200.00 for the gift to the United Church of Northfield.
