Help Nevaeh Reach her Soccer Dreams

Donation protected

My name is Yesenia and my daughter, Neaveh, is currently 12 years old. She has always been into sports she has played soccer, basketball, softball, and has also done some karate. Nevaeh's love for soccer began around age 6 and has only grown since then. She has played for the city of Somerville, MA and she has also played indoor soccer for her school in Somerville. During her free time she usually ends up going to the park or the field in her school to play soccer with her friends. Recess has also become another time for soccer. Since I can remember Nevaeh has carried a soccer ball around with her, even to school. I remember she had just received new sneakers one year and I told her she could not play soccer in her new sneakers because she would damage them and sneakers are expensive. She quickly fixed this dilemma by bringing a pair of old sneakers in her bag to change into so she would be able to play soccer when she got to school.

There was a year when I just couldn't afford to put her on the soccer league for Somerville, and while she was able to play softball for the city, she never forgot about soccer and continued to to ask when she would be able to play again.

I work full-time about 48-50 hours a week and I also go to nursing school full-time. Even so it has been difficult finding the money to pay for these activities.

Last year Nevaeh told me she wanted to focus on soccer as the main sport she played and asked if I could re-enroll her in the Somerville league. Nevaeh played with Somerville Youth Soccer again this spring with the 12U girls. When they had initially registered her they put her on the Division 2 team but was quickly moved up to the Division 1 team when an old coach saw her name on the roster and believed she was more skilled and should play up. During the end of the season the Division 1, 14U girls had a few injured players and Nevaeh was asked to fill in to play with them. She was a bit nervous and intimidated when she first heard about it but her first game with them she quickly got comfortable and scored the first goal of the game. The coach quickly moved her to play up in front from defender by the second half. After the first game she fell in love with playing with the more experienced girls and the 14U coach asked if she could play with them again in the last game of the season, which she did. That week Nevaeh practiced with the 12U team and the 14U team and that Saturday she played at 7:30am that morning with the 14U girls and she played a second game at 12:30pm that day with the 12U girls. Both games were won by each team. This dedication and drive to play and become a better overall player has only grown as she has gotten older.

Nevaeh told me that she wanted to play club this year and we decided to go to a couple of tryouts this spring. Nevaeh went to tryouts for the FC Blazers as well as GPS Metro North. She was offered a position on the FC Blazers with the U13 girls team and she was also offered a position with the GPS 13U girls Elite team. Neaveh has been dying to play for the FC Blazers and after having a conversation with her Somerville coach as well, and taking the tuition price into consideration we decided that the FC Blazers would be the best fit. Neaveh is looking forward to being challenged and to play with more experienced players to gain the skills she needs to reach her goals.

I want to help her reach these goals but the prices to have her play for this club and to do the year round training that will help her develop as a player is just far past what me and my family can afford. I have applied for a scholarship hoping that this will help make her dream more attainable but at the moment this is still pending.

Our Goal Broken Down as Follows:

$1275 for Summer Camp due by latest July 28, 2016.
$2250 for 2016-2017 Tuition last payment Due October
$350 for Club uniform and gear (Cleats & Shin Guards)

The tuition at this time may be altered given the results of the scholarship application that we put in. I am currently working with my family to see how much money we have ourselves to put in and am currently looking to try and pick up any offered overtime from my job at MGH as well as picking up possible extra shifts at my second job.

Anyone who knows Nevaeh knows what a great kid she is and the struggle that we have been through especially the last few years, and through it all she has always managed to fight through it all and keep such a bright smile and attitude throughout everything. Nevaeh has a huge heart, she is dedicated not just in soccer, but in school and strives to do well in everything she does. She is very responsible for her age and has and continues to handle many responsibilities that most children her age have do not have. She deserves to have this for her and the only thing that can stop us at this point is financial problems.

I made this page just to see what help we could receive to help her reach her goals. I know there are many people in the world struggling just as bad as us, or even worse but I thought why not just try and see what could happen. Anything that anyone could contribute to Nevaeh's Dream means the world to us.

I would like to thank you all in advance for any help you send our way.

I will keep you all updated with any changes and with how Nevaeh is doing throughout her journey in reaching all of her goals.
