My name is Lizette Caban, I am hoping that I can count on you to help my brother-in-law and his family.
My brother-in-law, Nelson, is 46 years old and is waiting for a heart transplant. He was diagnosed with cardiomyapathy 8 years ago and had a pacemaker placed in him. All was well until the summer of August 2014. He was hospitalized and after many tests was told that his heart was failing. In October 2014, he went to Newark Beth Israel in New Jersey and they confirmed that he did need a heart. He was in and out of the hospital with cogestive heart failure.
In February 2015, the heart transplant specialists decided that he needed to have a device implanted to pump the blood to his heart. February 16 was his last day of work. This device (Left Ventrical Assist Device) was supposed to be his miracle. Nelson spent 41 days in ICU. His right side of the heart started to fail as well. Nelson has been declared completely incapacitated and not able to work. My sister is now the only one working and trying to keep everything together. It has been very hard for them emotionally, financially and physically. They remain hopeful and know that the Lord will prevail.
Nelson is an amazing father of three and a loving husband who is fighting for his life. Any help that you can offer, would be greatly appreciated.
