Survivor - a person who continues to function or prosper in spite of opposition, hardship, or setbacks. Well, opposition, hardship, and set backs are just the beginning of my story. At the age of 35 I was diagnosed with breast cancer for the first time. A young, healthy, thriving, single mom of two, with no family history of cancer. My goal - to live.
I knew I had cancer before anyone told me I had cancer. I went to eight different doctors until I found one that looked at me in my face and said "Hey, I think we might have bigger problems than this lump." Fast forward 7 years, 15 surgeries, countless sessions of radiation and chemotherapy to the woman you know today. Since then I've been diagnosed with metastatic stage IV cancer for a third time with a growing tumor in my spine. Scary right?
My children, who are now ages 9 and 12, are my hope and inspiration and the reason I created this gofundme page. It's time that I make extreme decisions for treatments that will give me a fighting chance to finish raising my kids. It's time that I use every resource possible, because the road I've traveled before won't take me very far this time around. I am a strong, proud, hard working, professional, single mother who is asking for your help, because this is the only option I have to LIVE, support, and finish raising my children.
This is my story, #HERstory of Nelda Cordero. If you can help me in any way, I will forever be grateful, because you played a part in giving me life. Thank you for reading my story.
