Need to relocate to Rochester for heart transplant

Donation protected
Update 9/11

We officially move on October 18. We found a place and signed the lease and are in the process of getting everything packed. There is still so much left to do in the next month.

Oh and by the way, DAVID IS OFFICIALLY LISTED AT MAYO!!! ❤️ So now we just need to get there and get settled in before we get the call hopefully.

Once again, thank you to everyone who has donated and shared our journey. We truly appreciate each and every one of you!

Update 8/8/2024

We just recently spent 2 weeks at Mayo Clinic in Rochester for heart transplant evaluation. Part of their criteria is that David will have to stay in Rochester for 30-60 days after surgery. So now we are scrambling trying to scrap together the funds to find a place and pay the deposit and first months rent, and also pay for either movers or a moving truck. If we don't have enough to hire movers I will be doing the majority of the packing and moving by myself.

Any and all donations would be so greatly appreciated.

UPDATE 9/4:

David is still doing really well and is improving everyday. He has been taking alot of small walks and resting alot.

We still don't know exactly when he will be coming home but we are hoping for sometime this week. The doctors are still working on his warfarin levels before they will discharge him.

I wanted to say that I truly appreciate all of the love and donations that we have received so far and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I am once again asking for our friends and family to share our post and donate if possible. Every dollar helps towards a tank of gas or bill that needs to be paid while I am not working.

Thank you all and I will keep you updated on David's progress!

UPDATE 8/30:

David is doing much better today after having a rough few days with alot of pain. He was even able to get up and walk a bit. He has alot of healing left and we're both still learning all about his device and how to take care of his driveline site. I am still off work and going back and forth to the hospital. Any and all help anyone is able to provide is greatly appreciated and I am so thankful for the donations that have already been made. I will keep everyone posted on his progress.

August 24:
Hello! Many people already know that David has been listed and waiting for a heart transplant for a little over a year now. In that time I have been able to continue working from home while also caring for him and our 2 kids, Spencer 8 and Grayson 6.

Recently, David's doctors and transplant team recommended that he have surgery to receive an LVAD (Left Ventricular assist device) while waiting for the transplant. David has end stage heart failure so the LVAD will add years to his life while he waits.

Before the LVAD surgery, David's quality of life was quickly diminishing and his ability to play and have fun with the boys has drastically decreased. We decided as a family that the best thing would be for him to go through with the surgery to implant the LVAD.

David's surgery was on Wednesday, August 23rd.
He is currently in the cardiac ICU of the hospital recovering from the surgery and will require extensive 24 hour care when he is discharged from the hospital. Because of this I am missing alot of work with no return to work date in sight.

On top of missing work I am traveling every day to the hospital to recieve the training required to care for David when he comes home and also to be there for him to assist and support him in his recovery.

We have a very long road ahead to get David home and healthy and strong again. Any contribution that you can provide to supplement the lost wages and travel expenses to help us along the way would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely.

Nicole Lund, wife and caretaker of David Lund
