Hi my name is Ziva, Nathan's mom, I am writing in the hopes of getting support to carry us through the next 2 years for intense cancer treatments while our 12 year old son battles with cancer for the second time in his young life......We are looking at alternative treatments to save him from this beast and none of it is covered by the insurance.....
In May 2010 our son Nathan Lev was 6 years old and was diagnosed with Leukemia, Since that day Nathan has undergone many chemo treatments, procedures and life threatening obstacles that lasted till October 2013.
He was cancer free from Oct 2013 until his recent relapse, last month, May 2016....Since we received this devastating news we have been hospitalized for over 5 weeks with intense chemo in his veins and his spine and were told that he has to undergo an additional 2 years of intense chemo, most of it being confined in the hospital and possible need of a bone marrow transplant..Dealing with cancer costs a lot of time, energy and money, we barely got the chance to stand up from the wrath of cancer the first time around when we received this second devastating blow....
Nathan is an amazing kid, he wants to become a medical researcher, he loves science and people and tries to maintain a positive outlook on life through all of the challenges he has endured. When he would go for blood tests, he would make a beeline to the blood donor center and thank each and every person that was there donating blood and platelets. In April of 2013, Nathan asked when he can donate blood and when he was told “never”, he was very upset and after talking with his dad, we decided to host annual blood and bone marrow drives to help other children with the gift of life so they will have a fighting chance of surviving their challenges too. Nathan spearheads these blood and bone marrow drives for Children's Hospital LA on a yearly basis and plans on continuing this mission for as long as possible.
The Youtube video above, done in November 2015, Nathan spoke in front of over 400 members of the Westside Guild to raise awareness and funds for CHLA's cancer research........
My heart is broken that my boy will have to endure all of the intense treatments to come....
He gives so much back to the community and I was hoping that I can use this platform to raise awareness and funds that can help us sustain our family as we undergo this most challenging time in our lives again, he is a great boy and we are in need of help please.
Thank you very much for caring for our family and G-d bless.
