Natalie Baird Hickey vs. Pancreatic Cancer, Stage 4.
I’ve been trying to be as cool as my big sister for my entire life. She’s gorgeous, sassy, talented, silly, thoughtful, loving… and has been the hardest working mom I know. She wears her heart on her sleeve, loves deeply, and lives fully through all of the adventures and misadventures that life has thrown her way.
My big sister, Natalie, just finished her 8th round of chemo for metastasized, Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer! The diagnosis has been devastating. Please, help her as she fights for her life! We need her! And she needs us!
(You can scroll down to read Natalie's own words about life with cancer. She's our hero... ❤)
Natalie is the mother of 3, a wife, a daughter, a sister to six siblings, a friend, an inspiration to everyone, and so much more! Natalie also gained 2 step children... and their first grand baby is due in June!

Natalie was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer A few months ago, right before Thanksgiving. She had been experiencing pain in her back and stomach... and after a series of tests, it was determined that she had a growth on her pancreas. Shortly thereafter, she was told it was Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer... and that it had already spread to her liver and lungs. It was deemed inoperable... a crushing blow, to say the least.

Chemotherapy was her only option. She began chemo in December-- wearing an ugly Christmas Sweater! She has continued to have a 3-day round of chemo every other week. It is a very strong treatment, which most patients can't handle, but she handles it with grace, optimism, courage & humor!

Thankfully, her organs are functioning normally, and she is truly enjoying life! Her doctors say that she is a walking miracle! If anyone can beat this, it's her!
After starting chemo, Natalie had to quit her full time job, and her husband cut his hours in half so he could help care for her. The financial blow has been extremely stressful and discouraging. We are hoping to alleviate their financial strain as much as possible!
Natalie doesn't often ask for help, but she's the first to give it! She'll literally give you the shirt off her back and keep granola bars in her car in case she sees someone who may be homeless or hungry. In fact, she and her husband, Steve, have organized food and clothing collections for a Homeless Ministry in the Mojave Desert. Her life is all about the people in it...
On behalf of our family (and especially Natalie's six siblings) we ask you to join us in her fight!

If you are able to contribute financially,
THANK YOU very much!
ANY AMOUNT WILL HELP!
If you are unable to contribute monetarily, please know that we equally appreciate your love, support, well wishes, happy thoughts & prayers! ❤
Any funds raised will go directly toward medical expenses~ health insurance, medications, treatments, etc.
Her diagnosis has been a harsh reminder to
LIVE LIFE WELL & LOVE LIFE FULLY!
And in the midst of it all, we continue to move forward, enjoy our time together, make plans, and keep our fingers crossed.
Life is beautiful. Always.

IN NATALIE'S OWN WORDS:
"I can't begin to express the love I feel for so many people sending love and prayers. Stage 4 pancreas cancer? Me? I read the stories of people just being sent home to get their affairs in order. Not me!!
"Most days I don't believe it. I feel like it is not my time to go. I have three beautiful children and a husband that still need me. I have things to accomplish. I still go on road trips, play with my dog. And I absolutely love life!
"Amazingly, all of my organs are still functioning in normal range. I feel blessed. I have faith and hope, and God only knows when it's my time... with a little hint from me letting him know I am here to stay for some time!
"I've always been a giver and the simplest things in life, like a sunrise, are the best gift!!
"Cancer is expensive and creates a stressful financial situation. Every dollar, even if just one... will help.
"I have been told that I inspire others and am their rock. Wow.. I never thought so many people loved me. It is I who feels like I have the most amazing group of warriors in my life who inspire me and give me faith and hope in God's plan for me. I get so much strength from everyone's love and outreach.
"Possessions in this world have never meant much to me. I am simple. The most important thing has always been family and friends and those that I can help or just be there for. The return in love I have received outweighs anything I can remember. I absolutely love life.
"I became a single mom when I was pregnant with my third child. Always working 2 jobs to support my children. Some may say I had it hard. I don't. I have had a beautiful, fulfilling life and loved it even in the hardest of times.
"Life is so beautiful and this earth always reenergizes me with its beauty. I am looking forward to more of it!!
"With traveling expenses, insurance premiums, loss of wages it's hard. Please help in anyway you can. If you can't, then keep sending me the prayers and love. Hey! Keep doing that anyway!! I love you all.
"Remember to look around and see the beauty.. bring a smile to another's face. It all matters!" --Natalie
