Nascimento’s Cello: Wesley & Thiago’s Debut Album
Cello is one of the most beautifully sounding instruments as it mirrors the range and tone qualities heard in the human voice. The timbre and resonance that is produced when combining the Cello and Piano inspired Thiago Nascimento’s first compositions for the instrumentation in 2012 and 2013: The 5 Preludes for Cello and Piano. Described as "incredibly moving," the Preludes have never failed to bring a standing ovation. Each prelude contains in itself a unique identity, yet offers a vital portion to the structure of the Preludes as a whole. 
As a Duo, Wesley & Thiago’s goal is to bring an experience that will transcend “entertainment” and take you through a conduit of emotions and memories that will excite you to ecstasy, help you cope with grief, and enrich your life through a personal connection to the world of twenty-first century art music. This Cello & Piano Duo Journey sparked in 2015 when Wesley and Thiago met through a North American tour where they presented New Classical Music across the United States and Canada over 6 weeks. Mark Landson at Open Classical (DFW and surrounding area) provided this platform through which their collaboration ignited.
Fast forward to November of 2016, with Wesley Skinner pursuing a Doctorate in Cello Performance at Arizona State University and Thiago Nascimento continuing to develop his performance and compositional career in Dallas, Wesley commissioned Thiago to write a new Sonata. A Sonata of epic proportions began to take shape over the next 5 months. This Sonata for cello and piano spanned 53 minutes in its original version. Across three contrasting movements that speak to the full spectrum of human emotion, a story unfolds through the syntax of tuneful melodies, rich harmonies, and symphonic texture. The character of the music echoes the romantic nature of the 19th Century as well as superimposing the suspense and emotion of modern Film Scores and the heroic nature of Video Game Soundtracks. We premiered this innovative Sonata in Arizona and Texas in April and June of 2017. 
Due to popular demand, we have planned our recording session of the complete Cello and Piano works in July. We need your help to see this vision through as it has many moving parts and expenses for nearly 80 minutes of music to make it to digital form.
