I am a US citizen and have lived in Chile for over 10 years. My US family lives outside Bayfield, CO. Violence against women is a huge problem and the local press reports outrageous cases all the time. Over the weekend in Coyhaique, a small city in the south, Nabila Rifo Ruiz, a 28 year old mother of 4 was attacked by a man who basically destroyed her face, fractured her skull, removed BOTH EYES and all of her teeth. He then left her to die in the street. She didn't, and is in serious condition in the hospital. As a woman and a mother I can't even imagine the long road she has ahead of her, and the medical bills that her recovery will entail.
I do not know Nabila personally and though I try to help individuals in need when I can, this time I simply can't stand by and watch from afar. I have never tried to raise money publicly but I want to help, as I think we all do when we see reports of outrages like this.
The press is reporting all of the hideous aspects of this case and will probably do so for another few days, and then the next case of femicide and violent assault will take its place.
If we can contribute I make a promise to ensure that whatever funds I can raise will go directly to a fund to help Nabila Rifo and her family recover from this terrible tragedy. My donation is US$500. THANK YOU.

La violencia contra la mujer es un problema enorme y aparecen reportajes en la prensa con frecuencia. Durante este fin de semana en Coyhaique, un pueblo en el sur, Nabila Rifo Ruiz, Local press reports Local press reports Local press reports una mujer de 28 años, madre de 4 hijos fue atacada por un hombre que le destruyó la cara, le quito los dos ojos y todos sus piezas dentales. La dejó a morir en la calle. No se murió y esta grave en hospital. Como mujer y madre no me puedo imaginar el largo camino que enfrenta Nabila y las enormes cuentas medicas que va a significar su recuperacion.
No conozco a Nabila personalmente, y aunque busco a ayudar a personas en problemas cuado pueda, esta vez no puedo quedarme callada y no hacer nada. Nunca he intentado mobilizar fondos de manera publica pero quiero ayudar, como todos nosotros cuando veamos casos de esta naturaleza.
La prensa reporta todos los detalles horrosos de este caso y seguirá haciendolo durante los proximos dias, hasta que aparezca el proximo caso que tomará su lugar.
Si podemos ayudar a Nabila con una contribucion, me comprometo a asegurar que todos los fondos recolectados vayan a un fondo que ayuda a Nabila y a su familia para recuperarse de esta tragedia. Mi donacion será de US$500. GRACIAS.
