Christy's Cancer Clinical Trial

Donation protected
This is me (Tara)  and my sister         Christy!!!
My sister Christy, has HER2 positive Metastatic Breast Cancer.
I called my sister, Christy, in November of 2013; we were planning a big 50th wedding anniversary surprise party for our parents the next May.  We talked for a minute and Christy said that the plans may need to wait....... "I have cancer."  I remember exactly where I was, stopped what I was doing, and just stared at the phone.  My sister has caner.  How was this even possible?
It has been a rollercoaster for Christy.  Out of nowhere her world was turned upside down.  It has been a battle with surgeries, chemo, radiation and bad news after bad.  Her docs have tried everything there is to try and it is not getting any better.
Last month her doctor went to a conference and spoke with another doctor doing clinincal trials with a drug used to treat different cancers and they are testing it on breast cancer.
The official study title for Internet Search is on http://www.ClinicalTrials.gov: A Phase 2, Multicenter, Open-Label, Study of DS-8201a, An Anti-HER2-Antibody Drug Conjugat (ADC) for HER2-Positive, Unresectable and/or Metastatic Breast Cancer Subjects who are Resistant or Refractory to T-DMI.
The clinical trial has passed the first stage and they are having a 90% success rate going into phase 2!!!!  Christy's doctor sent all of her information to the other doctor in New York, the doctor had her come in and told her she is a candidate!!!  This is the first good news she has had since this all started.
Christy, her husband Jon, and two sons Evan and Johnny, live in Pennsylvania.  The first month of this process she will need to go to New York every couple of days; there will be a lot of missed work, travel expenses, and of course medical costs.  After the first month is done she will continue going up on a regular schedule.
I love my sister and want her around for a very long time.  I am asking that we all rally around her and show her the power we have in numbers to help her, and her family, through the expense of needing to go back and forth to New York for the treatments.  Please consider making a donation.  I will be making updates to let you all know how things are going.
The picture I chose to start this GoFundMe page shows the fun loving person my sister is :)  She is the strongest woman I know, fun loving, easy spirited and giving.  We thank you in advance for any help you are able to give, whether it is financially or sharing this with your friends and family.  Every bit counts.  Thank you.
