My name is Carolyn Davies and I'm a filmmaker and a trainer of Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
I am hoping to raise enough money to cover my bills for the three months of voluntarily work I did editing the documentary Raamro Aakha Ma: (In the Eyes of the Good).
Raamro Aakha Ma tells the story of former Maoist combatants, conflict victims, and government officials engaging in a restorative dialogue, following the aftermath of the 10-years armed conflict in Nepal. It shows what can happen when people are able to connect with one another across divides, beyond fear, stereotypes, and enemy images.
In recent years I have volunteered my time on several Nonviolent Communication (NVC) related films because I am passionate about the transformative power of NVC and of a well made documentary.
I'd like to continue contributing my filmmaking skills at a subsidised rate but it's difficult now because I have exhausted all of my savings and have no financial buffer.
Contributing to my fundraising campaign will help me pay off the debts I incurred during the editing of the film and if I raise more than my target, this will go towards versioning the film in different languages.
I am so happy to have the skills to make films that are important and that may not have easy access to mainstream funding. I long to contribute more and I am deeply grateful for your support and trust with this.
