My name is Jeremy, and this past year has been the most challenging of my life. In May 2024, I injured my L5S1 disc, and despite my best efforts to recover, I’ve reinjured myself several times. On top of the pain and limited mobility from my back, I’ve been dealing with ongoing sickness, including a recent diagnosis of diverticulosis and a hernia that requires surgery in January. Some days, I’m so nauseous and inflamed that I can barely get out of bed, and it’s taken a toll on my mental health as well. I’ve lost my job, was denied unemployment, and have no income coming in. My wonderful girlfriend has been my rock, but I know I can’t rely on her forever.

The bills keep piling up—medical expenses, overdue rent, and monthly costs I can’t keep up with. I owe friends who have helped me, and I’m behind on everything. I’m hoping to trade in my old car and put money down on a new one so I can drive for Uber or Lyft and start earning again. My living expenses are at the bare minimum, and I’m doing everything I can to stay afloat.

On top of my own struggles, my parents are both in bad shape. My dad suffered a stroke that affected his memory and vision, and he spends his days in bed at a care facility. I wish I could get him better care, maybe even a private nurse so he could have a better quality of life. My mom is grieving the loss of her husband and my grandmother, and I used to help her financially, but I can’t anymore.
