Hi, my name is Yvonne. Lisa and I are fundraising for our dear friend Cyndi (Cyd) who has recently been diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer that has spread to her lymph nodes.
While it cannot be cured. Cyd will now undergo chemotherapy and immunotherapy to control the cancer and give her the best quality of life possible over the coming years.
Anyone who knows Cyd knows how kind, positive and caring she is. She is a self employed driving instructor whose pupils adore her. Patient, encouraging and always smiling, she spends her life helping others feel calm and confident.
Now she faces the hardest road of her life!
Cyd is no longer able to work. Being self-employed means her income stopped immediately, but life and bills do not. Unfortunately Cyd has no nest egg to fall back on.
There is one place where Cyd and her wife Fiona can truly rest - their lodge overlooking the sea. It is their HAPPY PLACE, their escape. Their lodge will be their recovery space between chemo/immunotherapy sessions and something positive for them to hold onto during the next 2 years of continued immunotherapy treatment.
The yearly site & utility fees are approx £6,000 and we want to make sure they never have to worry about losing that refuge during treatment.
So we are doing something BIG!
OUR CHALLENGE
Starting on the 1st May, Lisa and I will complete the NC 500 route around Scotland approx 510 miles.
For 8 days we will cover between 60 and 70 miles a day alternating:
Jog/hike 10 miles
Cycle 10 miles
...repeating this all the way around the route between us.
We will sleep in our van each night and set off again at first light every morning.
We will post daily updates so everyone suppprting Cyndi can follow our journey and be part of it.
Our goal!
We want to raise enough to cover their lodge fees for the next two years if possible - or at the very least secure this year so Cyd has a guaranteed place to recover between treaments without financial stress.
CANCER takes control of so much.
We want Cyndi and Fiona to keep one place that feels like normal life.
If you can donate, share, or simply follow our challenge, you are helping give them rest, hope and something to look forward to during an incredibly difficult time.
We'll Carry The Miles
So Cyd doesn't have to carry the worry.
Thankyou❤️
