You can be the reason someone has a safe place to sleep, a clean home, and the support to begin again.
The lease is signed. The keys are in my hands. On November 1, My Best Friend’s Place takes over a sober living campus in Jacksonville.
People already live here. Others are waiting for a bed, with their move-in hanging in the balance as we prepare. Your donation can help provide stability for both.
My name is Kari, and I’m the founder of My Best Friend’s Place, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. I’m one woman leading this mission with faith and determination. Today, I’m asking you to help carry it forward.
For the residents already calling this campus home, my priority is a smooth transition with dependable utilities, clean living spaces, and foundational safety measures. For those waiting to move in, we need to get their units ready as quickly and responsibly as possible.
You have the power to help turn that waiting into a welcome.
The campus is furnished, with beds and mattresses already in place. The new roof and major construction are underway and covered.
The urgent need now is funding for the essentials that make those homes ready and keep them running:
• Help prepare someone’s home: Professional cleaning of each unit from top to bottom, plus repainting where needed.
• Help protect the community: New security camera systems and foundational safety measures for individual units.
• Help keep the lights on: Electricity, water, and Wi-Fi.
• Help provide a stable transition: Insurance and essential startup operating expenses.
These expenses run into thousands of dollars. We need funding upfront to schedule the work, install security equipment, and cover the operating costs that become our responsibility on November 1.
Behind every expense is a person who will depend on it. Behind every donation is someone willing to show up for them.
When you give, you help a current resident keep the stability they’re working hard to build. You help prepare a home for someone waiting for their next step. You help create the conditions where people can focus on recovery, employment, and rebuilding their lives.
Please donate today. Give $25, $100, $500, $1,000, or whatever you can. Your generosity can help make this transition possible.
If you can make a larger gift, consider helping fund a major need such as professional cleaning, security equipment, or utilities. You could help move an essential part of this launch from “still needed” to “covered.”
For donations of $1,000 or more received by My Best Friend’s Place, Inc., we will provide a written donation acknowledgment from our 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Businesses and LLCs are welcome to contact me privately to discuss donating and receiving documentation for their gifts. Donation acknowledgments are also available upon request for smaller gifts.
Please share this fundraiser and personally invite someone to give alongside you. Your invitation could bring in the support that gets another unit ready or covers an essential bill.
I believe God has called me to serve this community. I’m ready to do the work, but I cannot fund it alone. We need your help.
You can help make November 1 a day of stability for the people already here and a step toward home for the people still waiting.
Donate today. Help keep a home secure. Help get a bed ready. Be part of someone’s new beginning.
With gratitude,
Kari Pellum
