My Pilot Journey!

My goal, is to further my education and become an airline pilot!

At this very moment, there's a great pilot shortage, due to many airline captains retiring.

In order to prepare for this vast number of pilots lost, my company, Southwest Airlines, has created a COMPETITIVE Training Program that will take a person from someone with zero flying experience, to a fully certified Commercial Pilot.

Did you know that only 5.44% of today's pilots are women!? I want to be apart of this growth.
I've applied, tested, interviewed, and HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED into this pilot training program! I MADE THE CUT!!! And now, I have the opportunity to train to become a Southwest Airlines Pilot! ❤

Southwest Airlines has partnered with a well respected Flight Academy and corporate airline to provide the best training possible to new pilot cadets.

This Pilot Program is called Destination 225, & in it's entirety, costs $99,500.00. This amount is very large & does NOT include any living expenses.

So why go this route? Because it's worth it! Allow me to explain:

This 12 month training, 1yr hired instructor position and 2yr hired corporate pilot position, at about a 4yr duation total, will give me all of the flight hours needed in order to meet Southwest Airlines' hiring requirements. In addition, I will also be partnered with a current Southwest Airlines Pilot to ensure my success throughout the entire program. 

Completing this goal of mine, would allow me to help many others around the world; such as family, friends and the like! I plan to donate and create scholarships. I want to give back, pay it forward, and even be able to help minister; delivering items needed and the love of God to many around the world!

Lastly, but definitely not least, realizing this dream would allow me to set an example for every little girl out there, especially my own, to show them that the Sky's the limit! (Pun intended) And if flying happens to be a desire of theirs as well, then creating my very own scholarship for young women who too want to soar the skies will help to fund their dream!
 
*Although it would be amazing - & a miracle- to raise the full $100K for the program itself here on GoFundMe, I understand that, though optimistic, it's not necessarily realistic.

So, to reach this amount, I will be taking out a large education loan to cover the cost. I have also been applying to all possible education and aviation Scholarships.

However, because again, the cost of the program does NOT include room and board, I have also been working extra hours, & saving all extra income that comes our way in order to prepare for our future living expenses....

THIS is the reason for this GoFundMe Fundraiser; to help raise and save enough money to live off of while I am in training for the entire year, since in order to even take part in this program, I have to resign from my career as a Flight Attendant and will no longer be able to work for an income.

Growing up in the projects of Brooklyn, NY, a position and opportunity like this was NOWHERE on my radar. But I've always known I wanted more than what I had, and the only way to get it was to go after it.
