Gillian McCrostie was a long term resident of Muskoka, and most recently worked her artistic magic as the sole proprietor of Elves Best Crackers (ElvesBest ). She created beautiful, hand-crafted paper crackers to celebrate many traditions and occasions.
Gillian's artistic expertise and creativity was noticed by her teachers as a young child. Growing into adulthood Gillian was sidetracked from her creativity pursuits and worked in various social work positions as well as becoming a nun and living in a convent.
In 1987 she moved full time into the passion of her life creating paper greeting cards. For many years she operated her own greeting card shop in Mirvish Village in Toronto. Her artistic expertise allowed her to eventually create 500 + designs.
Gillian unfortunately passed away suddenly on January 7th, 2021, just as she was starting a much needed rest from attempting to stay afloat, during this terribly uncertain time of the Covid pandemic. Due to many corporate event cancellations, a large part of her business was lost and she has died without funds to pay for any of her expenses. We are appealing to the community to see if you would consider giving a donation toward her funeral costs.
As Gillian was an adopted, only child from a very small family, there are no relatives that can take on this responsibility. Given her love of greeting cards and spreading joy, we want to continue her legacy by sharing them with those who are able to donate.
Any donation is appreciated, however for a donation of $20.00 we will send you 3 of her hand made cards, and for a donation of $50.00 we will send you 10 (example of card in pictures).
