Flood Relief for Malaysian Students in Brisbane

Dear members of the public,

 

South East Queensland has been severely hit with heavy rainfall in the past few days resulting in one of the worst floods in recent history. Unfortunately, many Malaysian students' houses and accommodations were hit the worst by the torrential rain resulting in many personal items being lost and damaged by the flood water.

 

 

 

 

We're a group of Malaysian University students from various universities and societies, coming together to help our fellow countrymen and women to get back on their feet. The Malaysian Student Organisations (MSO) involved in this effort are the Malaysian Students' Council of Australia (MASCA), The University of Queensland Malaysian Students' Association (UQMSA), Queensland University of Technology Malaysian Students' Association (QUTMySA), Badan Perhubungan Brisbane (BPB), PPMQ, IKRAM Australia, ISMA, HAKIM, various scholarship providers and individual Malaysians residing in Brisbane.

 

 

The money gathered from this fundraiser will be fully utilised to fund our efforts to clean up the homes and neighbourhoods of Malaysian students, especially those residing in St Lucia which was one of the worst-hit suburbs in the flood. The money raised will also be used to replace furniture, personal property and necessities of those affected such as clothes, sanitary products, toiletries, dry food, groceries study tables and chairs, beds and many more. Cash provision might also be given to students based on the severity of their situation and urgency.
