Assistance To Recovery for Dottie

Ms. Dottie is a loved, warm hearted soul. She is known throughout the community for her smile and friendly attitude towards life. We are very lucky to have Ms. Dottie as an employee here at Kiddie Academy. She is our chef and all around the glue that keeps us all together, smiling and laughing. All the children love her and their faces light up when she walks down the hallway. She is truly one of the purest, kindest people anyone could come across.
Unfortunately, on Tuesday morning, July 21, 2015, Ms. Dottie was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Jackson Mills Road and Harmony Road. It was a head on collision, where Ms. Dottie's car had the right of way and the other car went out of turn.
Ms. Dottie was deemed to be a trauma patient by the paramedics and rushed to Jersey Shore Hospital. The fire department needed to use the "jaws of life" to extricate her from the vehicle. She was in crucial condition and suffered many broken bones including a broken leg, broken back, several fractures to her neck, and cuts and bruises all over her body.
As of date, Ms. Dottie has undergone two surgeries; one on her leg and one on her back. Both surgeries took several hours and she was placed on a temporary breathing ventilator. She has several screws and rods in her leg to stabilize it. The back surgery was done to fuse the discs in her lower back. A neck brace was applied to heal the fractures in her neck. Although both surgeries went well, Ms. Dottie has a very long road to recovery. She will be in the hospital for quite a while receiving treatment. She will also have to undergo several months of physical therapy and rehabilitation to fix the damage the accident had caused.
Our hearts go out to Ms. Dottie and her family. We can only imagine the pain her family and loved ones are facing. However, we believe together, as a community we can show our support. For anyone who's ever dealt with anything health related, you know how expensive medical bills can be.
