As I am lucky enough to have my summers off, this summer I will spend from July 8th until July 29th in Jaipur, India.
I will be volunteering at an orphanage for refugee children at least 40 hours a week. I will be working with A Broader View Volunteers. On the weekend I am hoping to get to explore India. I am sharing an apartment with other volunteers with the program. I love teaching my teenagers, but this will give me a chance to play and teach with younger children. I will be helping them learn academic basics such as numbers, colors, and shapes. I will also be helping to make sure that they are learning about hygiene, health, and emotional well being.
Costs: $2,791 Round Trip from San Francisco to Jaipur $990 Program Fee and Deposit (includes airport transfer, housing, and 3 meals a day) $150.00 Travel Insurance
One of the great things about using ABV is that they are a non-profit. My program fees will go to the local staff, paying for my meals, and apartment. Your donation is tax deductible. I get 24 hours of help in both India and the US from the program. In the apartment I will also have a local woman cooking and helping us with guidance.
