Charlotte Stagner was born and raised in Clay Center, KS. and has lived there her entire life. She went to college during the depression, received a BA from K-State and started teaching in 1935. When she got married a few years later, she lost her teaching job. At the time, married women were not allowed to teach in the public school system.
After the war she had a child and when he was five she returned to school, got her Masters degree, wrote a textbook and curriculum for a language arts class named “Communications” and taught for 25 years, until her retirement from Clay Center Jr High.
She is an accomplished woman who took care of her family, students and community, and was the first woman Elder in the local Presbyterian Church. She lived on her own till the age of 99, and drove as well. 5 years ago, she moved to the care and comfort of the the Leonardville Nursing home where she is in now, and is happy there.
Very few of us ever have to plan for living past 100, and at 104 years, her savings and a small pension are gone. SSI is minimal, and other forms of assistance have been hard to find.
Mom is simply out of resources and then some, and we are asking for your help. I am asking those of you who know and love Charlotte to help her stay where she is and live out the rest of her life in peace.
I am so proud of my Mom. I’m Arnie Christensen, her only child, and grateful for your kindness and generosity. Thank you and God Bless you.
